Why Nepal Needs Digital Literacy Before Digital Transformation

In recent years, Nepal has introduced remarkable digital public infrastructure: Nagarik App, QR code payment systems, online driving license forms, and digital banking platforms.

However, a critical gap remains: Digital Literacy.

The Gap Between Infrastructure and Awareness

Building an app is only 20% of digital transformation. The remaining 80% is helping everyday citizens understand how to use it safely.

When citizens lack digital literacy:

• They fall victim to OTP scams and social engineering fraud.
• They rely on cyber cafes and middlemen to fill basic government forms.
• They fear digital banking and stick to cash transactions.

My Approach to Public Awareness

Through short educational videos, public workshops, and direct community engagement, I focus on:

• Explaining how Nagarik App services work step-by-step.
• Warning people about fake lottery calls and investment scams.
• Teaching basic smartphone security hygiene.
